In Caffreys we try to keep fit and athletic. Every Friday our football team plays in the local leisure center. The lads are really competitive. We found that the bonds between the members of our team become stronger and the working environment is improving. |

Caffreys participation at the 2008 Belfast Self Build Show was considered a great success. The Sales and Marketing Management believes that our presence in the show will increase our export activity in Northern Ireland by more than 150%. The visitors showed big interest in our stand and more than 200 quotes were filled.

Steven Mohan couldn't be more happy as he was officially handed the role of Production Supervisor (kitchens). An expert programmer and operator of computer numerical control machines, Steven declared that he is ready to assume the new responsibilities and feels he has a lot to offer. "I will hit the ground running" he said jokingly to Takis.

In a world that is increasingly dependent on computerised procedures, Caffrey's are keeping up to pace. The latest CNC machining centre from INTERMAC is now installed and running. Takis couldn't hide his excitement: "The Directors are open-minded and this is what's keeping this company among the best. They move swiftly once a need is identified by the Managers and invest accordingly."

A brand new saw was installed in the factory, increasing our cutting capacity by 25%. Qiang Ding, our saw expert, said: "It is always a pleasure to work with new technology. I am glad that Caffrey's understand the need to constantly renew our machinery and explore new ways of delivering the best results to our customers."

A beaming Des Craddock announced to the managers that May 2007 was the best month ever for the Kitchen Countertops. The company managed to fit and supply 112 sets of countertops to 112 kitchens. David Caffrey said: "We are growing steadily but most importantly we do it without compromising our traditional superb quality."

An innovative machine (the first of its kind in Ireland) was added to Caffrey's arsenal. The machine is capable of polishing the edge of countertops at the rate of two meters per minute. Takis believes this will free up to 50% of the hand polishers' time to allow them to do more of the custom work that is Caffrey's trademark.

We are now employing two fitting teams that install natural stone countertops in four kitchens every day. We also employed a full time surveyor to cope with the increased amount of orders. Des Craddock said: "Our first aim is to give a quality service to our customers. We are now able to fit a kitchen within ten days of ordering."

A delighted Takis Kavvadias shook hands with David Caffrey after signing the contract that sealed his promotion to Production Manager (kitchens). He said: "We will have to constantly improve our ways to cope with the ever increasing sales and transformations of the market. The Directors and I have a good relationship and this is a promising start."

Caffrey's are proud to announce that Des Craddock has joined the team as Sales Manager (kitchens). Des has a 10 year experience in the natural stone industry and is expected to re-organise the Sales Department and increase sales. Tony Caffrey, the Director for Sales, said: "We are delighted to employee a person of that calibre. We are building a strong team and we are looking to the future with great optimism."

We are proud to announce that Takis Kavvadias of Caffrey's Natural Stone has graduated from UCD with a Masters in Industrial Engineering. Only selected people from a few Irish and foreign organisations are accepted to this prestigious course. David Caffrey said: "We greatly value the training and development of our people. Takis is a Mechanical Engineer and we were delighted to help him achieve an MSc. We believe that top class education from one of the country's best colleges will really push our company to a higher level". Takis is currently working in process and product development.

In April 2006, we increased our transport fleet to satisfy the increasing business with the introduction of two 25ft trucks.
We have introduced new colours in the quartz granite range of products and they are now available for kitchens. The full range of quartz granite
worktops consists of over 70 colour combinations including these 10 new contemporary varieties.
In February 2006, Caffrey Stone invested in a brand new laser etching machine. This state-of-art machine can etch or engrave photographs, ornamental or religious
designs, portraits, lettering etc. on any stone surface. We are currently exploring its full capacity and are preparing new products to be introduced shortly.
